I watched a movie called The Bra. I decided myself for this one because the poster made it look like a heartwarming one, and also because it’s a production from Azerbaijan. That intrigued me, since I never had contact with anything of that country before (and I have a soft spot for the Second World countries)
And I’m really pleasantly surprised! I didn’t know what to expect, and I got a silent comedy à la Jacques Tati or Rowan Atkinson with hints on the artsy stereotypes of Iranian cinema, but mostly leaning towards the first thing. The characters, even without talking or being unnamed, remain with you, and the premise is simple enough to be followed with ease but lets space for deep gestures and a big feeling and atmosphere transmission. Also, the photography and the usage of colour is amazing.
So, I highly recommend it if you like (1) unique things, (2) heartwarming comedy, (3) landscapes and colour and/or (4) knowing lesser known cultures a bit better.
